This easy-to-make, no-sew wreath will work for any season. Simply choose appropriate coordinating colors. Or country prints/colors for a year-round look. I chose country reds and greens for the sample. It will look great all year round or for Christmas. -- AP

COUNTRY WREATH
Materials:
10” Styrofoam or Dylite wreath
1/4 yd. cotton print fabric for main color
scraps of two coordinating cotton print fabrics
sequin pins
1. Rip the main fabric into 1” strips. Press.
2. Secure one strip to the back of the wreath with a sequin pin. Wrap the strip around the wreath, overlapping slightly. Secure the end of the strip at the back with a sequin pin. Repeat until wreath is completely wrapped in fabric.
3. Rip coordinating fabrics into 1” strips. Press. Cut each into twelve 6” lengths.
4. Starting with one coordinating fabric, wrap a strip at the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions of the wreath, securing each strip with sequin pins at back of wreath. Wrap the second coordinating fabric on either side of these four strips.
5. Reversing the colors of the coordinating fabrics, wrap as above halfway between each of the first four sections.
6. Make a bow from one strip of main color and pin to bottom center of wreath. Trim tails as desired.
7. Cut an 18” length from one strip of main color. Loop around top of wreath and knot for hanging loop.

ReplyDeleteIf you're really lazy and don't want to rip the fabric strips, I suppose you could always use printed ribbon.

Printed ribbon would work, Kathy, but in order to make it contour nicely around the wreath, you should soak it first it to remove the sizing. I like the look of the frayed fabric when it's ripped, but you could also cut the fabric with a pinking shears. Also, the ribbon is going to wind up costing more than using scraps of fabric left over from other projects.
