CRAFTS WITH ANASTASIA - NO-SEW KNOTTED FLEECE BLANKET

No-sew knotted fleece blanket for a "friend"

Last Monday I told you about the knotted fleece blanket that wasn’t and promised you directions for making a knotted fleece blanket today. When purchasing fleece, decide beforehand how large you want the blanket. Will it be crib size? Throw size? Child size? Or big enough for a bed? Choose two solid colors, two patterns, or a pattern and a solid. And remember: no matter what fleece you buy, make sure it doesn’t leave a trail of fuzz when it’s cut.  -- AP

NO-SEW KNOTTED FLEECE BLANKET

MATERIALS:
two pieces of fleece the same size (see above), scissors, tape measure or ruler, 4” x 4” piece of paper

1. Trim away selvage edges from both pieces of fleece.

2. Lay the two pieces of fleece, wrong sides together, with edges lined up evenly.

3. Line up the 4” x 4” piece of paper at one corner of the fabric. Cut out the corner through both layers. Repeat for the remaining three corners.

4. Cutting through both layers, cut a 4” deep x 1” wide fringe around the entire blanket.

5. Beginning on one side, tie a double overhand knot in the fringe, using one fringe from each piece of fleece. Tie the knots in every other piece of fringe all around the blanket. Then flip the blanket and repeat with the remaining pieces of fringe.
