MONEY MATTERS--ANASTASIA ON THE PRICE OF EBOOKS

As the protagonist of a mystery series, I want everyone to read about me. Wouldn’t you? What good is it to have books written about you if no one ever reads them?

Now, those of you who know me, know that I’m on a tight budget, thanks to Dead Louse of a Spouse. For those of you who don’t know me, my not-so-dearly departed husband dropped dead awhile ago at a roulette table in Las Vegas when I, his trusting wife, thought he was at a sales meeting in Harrisburg, PA. That’s when I learned the blankety-blank son of a blankety-blank had gambled away all our savings and plunged me and our sons into Grand Canyon-depth debt. I’ve been trying to climb my way out ever since. I don’t relish the thought of spending my retirement living out of a cardboard box.

I know I’m not the only person in the world with money woes. Some have it worse than I do (although I doubt they’re stuck with their husband’s curmudgeonly communist mother living with them.) Many others don’t have it as bad but still have to keep to a budget.

I’m telling you all this because for some time now I’ve been royally annoyed at the price of the ebooks that feature me. How many people have enough discretionary income to plop down $8.00-$15.00 for an ebook more than once in a blue moon? Certainly not me and probably not many other people who would like to read about me.

Well, all that has now changed. Lois Winston, the author who writes the books about me, has received back the e-rights to the first two books in the Anastasia Pollack (that’s me!) Crafting Mystery series, and she’s made them available for the very reasonable price of $3.99. Yea!

Now all of you who hitherto couldn’t afford to read about me, can indulge yourselves. Just click on the links below for the ebook versions of Assault with a Deadly Glue Gun and Death by Killer Mop Doll. I promise you’ll be entertained by all the murder and mayhem Lois dishes up for me.

And did I mention Ralph, my Shakespeare-quoting parrot?

  1. I've never understood why some publishers price ebooks higher than print books. Glad you have your writes back and will check my TBR pile to see which of your books I don't have.

  3. Thanks, Morgan. It often takes some prodding on my part, but Lois can often be smart enough to do the right thing. ;-D

  4. What a great post, Anastasis. I love your voice and viewpoint and want to hear more from you on other subjects. I think we could be friends.

Aggie Mundeen, who reluctantly lets Nancy G. West write about her.
