#COOKING WITH CLORIS--AUTHOR MISTY SIMON'S WHOOPIE PIE COFFEE

Misty Simon loves a good story and decided one day to try her hand at writing. Eventually she got it right. There’s nothing better in the world than making someone laugh, and she hopes everyone at least snickers in the right places when reading her books. Learn more about them and Misty at her website.

Thanks so much to Anastasia and Cloris for letting me share my coffee with them today!

In my series Tallie Graver Mysteries, coffee drinking is a big deal between Tallie and her best friend Gina who owns the coffee shop across the street. Tallie is constantly over at Gina’s shop for a shot of something severely caffeinated, and if it’s sugary, then that is a double bonus. Often it’s her brain drink when she’s trying to figure out whodunit and how not to let them get away with it. Being a truly amateur sleuth, one who seems to stumble more often than not across these bodies, Tallie is often in all kinds of trouble and can usually be found with a coffee in hand. The other hand is usually holding a donut or croissant, but that’s not what this blog is about. This is all about the coffee and a simple but effective recipe to kick that morning joe up a notch.

I am a tea drinker, but I find myself surrounded by coffee drinkers. I find it fascinating at my day job to watch those who are fiending for coffee first thing in the morning and so was happy to make that a part of Tallie’s character to give her a level in which a reader could relate.

I love all kinds of tea from green to white to black. Fill the mug with enough creamer in a black tea to make it blonde and I’m your girl. And yet, I love the smell of fresh brewing coffee. While I adore the aroma of many different flavors, it’s the taste that I don’t know if I could handle. And yet, even I might try this recipe! What’s not to love about whipped cream, marshmallow fluff and a dipper of chocolate heaven?

Whoopie Pie Coffee

Ingredients:
1 cup standard coffee
1 spoonful marshmallow fluff
1 splash vanilla
A sprinkle of confectioners’ sugar
1 (or more) chocolate biscotti

Pour coffee into the mug of your choosing. Pick a good one that can make you smile as you sip on this treat. Stir in marshmallow fluff and vanilla. Sprinkle with confectioners’ sugar to top it off. Then dunk that biscotti for all your worth!

Enjoy!

Grounds for Remorse

No more cheating . . .

Best friends Tallie Graver and Gina Laudermilch both seem to spend a lot of time around urns. For Tallie, they’re part and parcel of the family business, Graver’s Funeral Home. Even though she’s traded ashes for dusting with her own cleaning business, she still works part-time for her folks and lives above the funeral parlor. For Gina, they’re the vessels that contain her heavenly brew at her coffee shop, Bean There, Done That. And both women are learning that owning a business can make finding time for romance challenging.

But when Gina’s new beau turns out to have a wife, who barges into the coffee shop to take him home, she can’t contain her bitterness and loudly threatens to poison his cup or boil him in vat of coffee. So when Mr. Wrong turns up dead at the bottom of a staircase inside Gina’s locked home, she finds herself at the top of the police’s suspect list. Tallie needs to sweep in to save her friend. But she’ll need to watch her step, or she may go from being a funeral home employee to becoming their next client . . .
