When most people think of ceramics, they think
pottery wheels for “throwing” utilitarian items such as bowls, plates, and
vases. Many ceramic artists create decidedly un-utilitarian items, though,
sometimes utilizing a pottery wheel but often through freeform sculpting.
This mid-century inspired bathing beauty was a
birthday gift from a friend years ago. She has no purpose other than to put a
smile on my face—and I hope on yours.
