ROMANCE SUPER BUNDLE--AUTHOR LINDA McLAUGHLIN

Today we welcome Linda McLaughlin, another of the Romance Super Bundle authors. Linda grew up with a love of history fostered by her paternal grandmother and an incurable case of wanderlust inherited from her father. She has traveled extensively within the United States and has visited Mexico, Canada, & Australia. A lifelong dream came true with a trip to England where she was able to combine sightseeing and theater with research for her novels. She published her first book under the name Lyn O'Farrell. Now Linda writes historical and Regency romance under her own name and sexy to erotic romance under the pen name Lyndi Lamont. Learn more about Linda and her books at her website and blog.

Remember, for a limited time you can get Linda’s historical romance, along with nine other full-length contemporary romances and romantic suspense novels for the incredibly low price of just .99 cents. That’s less than .10 cents a book!

The first half of Rogue’s Hostage takes place in my home state of Pennsylvania, more specifically Pittsburgh, back when it was Fort Duquesne of the Blessed Virgin at the Beautiful River. Yes, that was the name the French gave to the crude fort they built where the Allegheny and Monongahela meet to form the Beautiful River, i.e. the Ohio. This is how I describe it in the book:

The four travelers stood on a ridge overlooking the place where two rivers met to form a third. On either side of the sparkling waterways, heavily forested hills stood against the blue sky. A green meadow stretched below to the point of land where the fort was situated.

"It is spectacular," Mara whispered, her voice filled with awe.

People who’ve never been to the area have no idea how pretty the surrounding countryside can be, especially in the autumn when the leaves change color. I grew up in Pittsburgh, and a year never went by that my family didn’t pile into the car on a Sunday afternoon to drive out along the Pennsylvania Turnpike to ooh and aah at the beauty of the fall colors as the trees turned to shades of gold, orange and red. It is indeed spectacular.

As I was writing the book, out here in fall-colorless Southern California--we’re lucky to have a few colored leaves by December--I had to rely on my memories and pictures in books. I could only imagine how beautiful the forested slopes were back in 1758 when my characters had to hike over the mountains to get to Fort Duquesne, my heroine dragged along unwillingly. What an adventure Mara has in the book!

Rogue’s Hostage

His hostage...

In 1758 the Pennsylvania frontier is wild, primitive and dangerous, where safety often lies at the end of a gun. Mara Dupré's life crumbles when a French and Indian war party attacks her cabin, kills her husband, and takes her captive. Marching through the wilderness strengthens her resolve to flee, but she doesn't count on her captor teaching her the meaning of courage and the tempting call of desire.

Her destiny...

French lieutenant Jacques Corbeau's desire for his captive threatens what little honor he has left.  But when Mara desperately offers herself to him in exchange for her freedom, he finds the strength to refuse and reclaims his lost self-respect. As the shadows of his past catch up to him, Jacques realizes that Mara, despite the odds, is the one true key to reclaiming his soul and banishing his past misdeeds forever.

ROMANCE SUPER BUNDLE--AUTHOR KATE KELLY

Kate Kelly is another of the authors represented in the Romance Super Bundle, 10 contemporary, historical, and romantic suspense novels available right now for a mere .99 cents.

Kate has had a love affair with books her entire life. She finaled in the RWA Golden Heart and is the recipient of the RWA Daphne du Maurier award. She has the good fortune to live on the east coast of Canada with her husband (the children have flown away.) She writes, grow herbs and perennials, and sails when the wind blows her way. Learn more about Kate at her website.

Kate is here today to tell us where she got the idea for Sleight of Hand, her contribution to the Romance Super Bundle.

In 1990, a theft of thirteen paintings occurred in the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. The crime is still unsolved and the spaces where those 13 paintings used to hang are still empty. To me, that’s an invitation to a thousand what-ifs. Sleight of Hand is the story I fabricated of what happened to those paintings and why they were stolen. I like to think there are people like Chance Spencer in this world.

Sleight of Hand
Suddenly suspected of stealing half a million dollars of original paintings, Chance Spencer can't afford to have the FBI delve too closely into his covert past. When one agent in particular endeavors to put him behind bars, Chance coerces the real thief's daughter, Sarah O'Sullivan, into helping him flush her wily father out of hiding. But his plan quickly deteriorates when the stakes for his freedom soar. How can he ruthlessly use the woman with whom he's falling in love?

ROMANCE SUPER BUNDLE--DONNA MARIE ROGERS

Today we welcome USA Today bestselling author Donna Marie Rogers, another of the Romance Super Bundle authors. Donna inherited her love of romance from her mother. Romance novels, soap operas, Little House On the Prairie--her mother loved them all. And though it wasn't until years later Donna would come to understand her mother's fascination with Charles Ingalls, her love of the romance genre is every bit as all-consuming. A Chicago native, Donna now lives in beautiful Northeast Wisconsin with her husband and children. When she's not doing the wife and mother thing, you can usually find her sitting at the computer, creating exciting, memorable characters, fresh new worlds, and always happily-ever-afters. Learn more about Donna at her website and blog.

I'm very excited for the launch of our Romance Super Bundle: Ten incredible, full-length romance novels on sale now for one extremely low price of .99 cents! What a deal, right? So let me tell you about my contribution.

There's Only Been You is the first book I wrote and the proverbial book of my heart. I sat down at my spanking brand new computer back in 2004, and had no idea what I was doing, but I knew I wanted to write a story. A scene developed in my head, about a family who loved each other fiercely, and I went with it. Eight months later, I wrote THE END, and the first book in my Jamison Series was born.

I've been blessed with many wonderful reviews, including 4 stars from RT BOOK Reviews which called There's Only Been You “...wonderfully heartwarming...” So let me give you a little taste...

Lies destroyed their past - will the truth end their chance at a future?

Sara Jamison has no clue where Mike Andrews' been all these years, but she knows where she's been - busy raising their son. Two weeks after he accused her of cheating and disappeared from her life, Sara discovered she was something she never expected to be - an unwed pregnant teenager.

But with the love and support of her annoyingly alpha-male family, she's managed to make a good life for herself and her young son. She even owns her own business, Sara's Bakery, which she's built into a thriving success. Sure, she works too hard and her social life is nonexistent, but for the most part, she's content.

Until the day Detective Mike Andrews walks into her bakery and back into her life...

She wasn’t going anywhere with that faithless jerk…

Sara glanced over her shoulder when the screen door opened. Mike.
“We need to talk.”
The pan she’d been drying fell from her hands and clattered to the floor. “Where’s Garrett?” she asked, attempting to peer around his broad shoulders while being careful not to make eye contact with him. As long as she didn’t look him directly in the eye, she’d be able to maintain her composure.
“You’ve always put him on a goddamn pedestal.”
She bent over to pick up the pan. “Don’t you dare say anything unkind about him.”
“He’s a pain in the ass.”
She shot up and faced him, despite her own self-warning. “He’s certainly not alone.”
A slow smile curved his lips. “Now, there’s the Sara I know and love.”
“Don’t you dare throw that word around. If you’d loved me, we wouldn’t be in this situation.” A surge of emotion tightened her chest, and she silently cursed herself for letting him get to her.
Hands on his hips, Mike sighed. “Look, I know you have every reason to believe that, but it’s just not true. I’ve loved you since the first moment I laid eyes on you.”
She paused. God, how she wanted to believe him. But if he’d truly loved her as he claimed, he’d never have been able to stay away for so long.
She swallowed past the lump in her throat and reached into the dish drainer for something else to dry.
“All right, I’m done playing. Come on, we’re going for a ride.” Mike reached out and grasped her elbow.
“I’m not going anywhere with you,” she said, yanking her arm free. “If you want to talk, we’ll talk, but we’re doing it right here.” She threw the towel down on the counter and crossed her arms over her chest to hide her shaking hands.
“You either follow me to my truck, or I’ll toss you over my shoulder and carry you there. But one way or another, we’re taking a ride.”
She gasped. Arrogant son of a… “If you touch me, I’ll scream bloody murder.”
“Then I guess I’ll have to gag you as well.”
He took a step toward her. She took a step back.
“You stay the hell away from me.” She took another step back and bumped into the table, quickly grasping it for support. Her pulse sped up, though she feared it was as much from excitement as anger. Damn him for making her…feel something.
“Not a chance. I made that mistake once, I won’t make it again.”

SUPER ROMANCE BUNDLE--AUTHOR PAMELA FRYER

Today we feature another of the Romance Super Bundle authors. Golden Heart winner and Epic Award nominee Pamela Fryer writes edge-of-your-seat romantic suspense that will leave you breathless. Pamela’s contribution to the Romance Super Bundle of ten novels by ten authors is August Unknown. Learn more about her and her books at her website and blog. And don't forget, the Romance Super Bundle, a collection of 10 full-length novels by ten authors, is on sale now for the incredible low price of .99 cents.

Most people think it is the momentous incidents in a writer’s life that inspire their books, but that isn’t always true for me. I am often stimulated by little things—an odd looking person strolls past and inspires a character, a dramatic sunset inspires a setting, a news headline inspires a plot. All it takes is a seed, and my stories grow like carefully tended plants.

August Unknown was inspired by a day of sailing with my family. They are the sailors, not me, but I visited them several times in some of the most exotic places in the world during their five year live-aboard.

One day when sailing from the mainland of Cartagena, Colombia to a set of three small, uninhabited islands off the Corales del Rosarios National Park peninsula, we encountered heavy seas. Actually, they were heavy to me, not the sailors in my family. In my eyes, a thirty foot swell rising and falling in front of me was something like the buildings moving around in Inception. My seasickness came that day in the form of a raging headache and extreme light sensitivity. I stood by the rail looking across that gunmetal ocean (holding tight to the rigging) and thinking to myself a person gone overboard in this would never be found. Put it at night, add some rain and wind, and a sinister reason the victim went overboard, and you’ve got the makings of a mystery. Now throw in a head injury and a foggy memory. August Unknown was planted that day, just from watching the ocean roll in front of me.

August Unknown

Danger lurks in a past she can’t remember.

She doesn’t know what happened the night of the storm, why she was walking along the highway without ID, or why she has a fading tan line on her wedding ring finger, but a dark and terrifying presence haunts the edge of her memory. Before she can start a new life with the wonderful man who came to her rescue, she must remember what in her past might take her away from him.

Heartache lies in a past he can’t forget.

After a tragically failed marriage, Geoffrey Barthlow has only begun to scrape together the pieces of his shattered life. When Jane Doe “August” falls into his world, he sees the opportunity to help her as a chance to heal his own injured soul. But as he finds himself falling for the beautiful mystery woman, he knows his heart is once again at risk; she has another life somewhere that she will eventually remember.

Some of these authors will be stopping by in the days to come to tell you a little bit about the books they have in the collection. Today we’ll start out with Love, Lies and a Double Shot of Deception by Lois Winston.

How It All Began...
by Lois Winston

Those of you who are regular readers of this blog know that I write the Anastasia Pollack Crafting Mystery series, and that this blog features Anastasia and her colleagues in the online version of the magazine where they all work as editors. However, I’m also published in other genres, including romance and romantic suspense, under my own name and my Emma Carlyle pen name. As a matter of fact, I started out writing romance and romantic suspense. Mystery came much later.

Love, Lies and a Double Shot of Deception was the book that launched me on my path to becoming a published author. I didn’t grow up thinking I’d one day write books. The idea never crossed my mind until eighteen years ago when a dream wouldn’t leave me alone. I rarely remember my dreams, but this one stuck with me and wouldn’t let go. I didn’t know the people in the dream; I have no idea why I kept dreaming about them. When they started invading my waking life, I decided to get them out of my system by committing their story to paper.

So I sat down at the computer one day and began typing. The next thing I knew, I’d written The Great American Novel—a 50,000 word romance that spanned thirty-five years. (When you all stop rolling on the floor laughing your butts off, you can continue reading.)

Yes, I was clueless, but I didn’t know that at the time. I embarked on an effort to get the publishing world interested in my book. As the stack of rejection letters grew, I began to get an inkling that maybe—just maybe—I needed to make some changes to my story. I headed over to Barnes & Noble and bought an armload of how-to-write-a-novel books.

That day at the bookstore was the first day of a ten year journey spent learning how to write. Nearly ten years to the day I first sat down to pen my dream, I sold my first book—not the dream book, though. During my decade of learning, I occasionally dusted off the dream book and reworked it. Eventually, it transformed from that original 50,000 word romance spanning thirty-five years to an 85,000 word romantic suspense that took place over the course of a few months. It was the second book I sold and was published in 2007 as Love, Lies and a Double Shot of Deception. It went on to win the 2008 Winter Rose Award for Excellence in Romantic Fiction, the More Than Magic Award, and the Laurie Award.

Love, Lies and a Double Shot of Deception was out of print for several years. Having received the rights back, I published it as an ebook this past year. It’s now one of the ten books in the Romance Super Bundle.

Love, Lies and a Double Shot of Deception

Life has delivered one sucker punch after another to Emma Wadsworth. As a matter of fact, you could say the poor little rich girl is the ultimate poster child for Money Can’t Buy Happiness — even if she is no longer a child.

Billionaire real estate stud Logan Crawford is as famous for his less-than-platinum reputation as he is his business empire. In thirty-eight years he’s never fallen in love, and that’s just fine with him — until he meets Emma.

But Emma’s not buying into Logan’s seductive ways. Well, maybe just a little, but she’s definitely going into the affair with her eyes wide open. She’s no fool. At least not any more. Her deceased husband saw to that. Besides, she knows Logan will catch the first jet out of Philadelphia once he learns her secrets.

Except things don’t go exactly as Emma has predicted, and when Philadelphia’s most beloved citizen become the city’s most notorious criminal, she needs to do a lot more than clear her name if she wants to save her budding romance with the billionaire hunk someone is willing to kill for.

And here are short blurbs for each of the other books in the collection:
