9/11 TRIBUTE IN LIGHT

Today is the fourteenth anniversary of 9/11. This evening as the sky darkens, two vertical beams of light, representing the Twin Towers, will fill the sky over lower Manhattan in remembrance of that fateful day.

The Tribute in Light is an art installation that first occurred on the six-month anniversary of September 11th and has been repeated on the anniversary of the terrorist attacks every year since.

Eighty-eight searchlights are placed next to the site where the towers once stood to simulate the buildings that are no more.

This evening as we stare at those columns of light, we’ll remember the lives lost that day and give thanks to the brave men and women of this country who everyday dedicate their lives to keeping us safe.
