SIX SENTENCE SUNDAY

Today we’re once again participating in Six Sentence Sunday. Today’s six sentences are from Someone To Watch Over Me, one of author Lois Winston’s Emma Carlyle romances. Someone To Watch Over Me was the winner of the Virginia Romance Writers Fool For Love contest.

Rattled by the unsettling turn of events, Dori closed her eyes and took a deep breath while a bevy of men and women prattled around her, touching up her make-up and smoothing her hair. Although she hadn’t given it much thought -- or any thought for that matter -- it made sense that a company representative would accompany her on her appearances across the country. She hardly expected Mr. York to slap a pile of airline tickets into her hand and send her on her way. It just never occurred to her that she would be thrust into a twenty-four/seven situation with that man.

Why him?
Who was he, anyway?

Every neuron in my brain sputtered to a halt at the sound of that deep baritone. The man didn’t speak his words; he caressed them. Think James Earl Jones blended with Patrick Stewart and just the slightest dash of Sean Connery. Ben’s voice flowed with a richness of tone and timbre that sent my insides galloping. Reason deserted me as my mouth went dry and my ability to think came to a screeching halt. I stared at his extended hand, incapable of moving a muscle or kick-starting my own tongue.

“Cu!” Luke groaned. How the hell had his cat managed to get onto his neighbor’s balcony? And why did it have to be that neighbor? Cu, looking for all the world like feline royalty, sat ensconced in the center of a flowery cushioned wicker chair -- on Dr. Althea Chandler’s balcony! And damn if he didn’t look pleased with himself!

SIX SENTENCE SUNDAY

We're starting something new here at Killer Crafts & Crafty Killers on Sundays. Along with announcing the winners when we have giveaways, we'll occasionally be participating in Six Sentence Sunday -- a teaser of six sentences from either those humorous amateur sleuth books about moi (see sidebar) written by author Lois Winston, or one of her other books, not about moi. Yes, much to my dismay, she does spend time with other protagonists, the two-timer!  :-(

Today, six sentences from Death By Killer Mop Doll, the latest Anastasia Pollack Crafting Mystery:

So after tossing in a load of wash, I microwaved a cup of coffee left over from breakfast. I was about to take my second sip when Zack’s silver Porsche Boxster rolled down the driveway.

He waved as he killed the engine and jumped out. Returning the wave, I watched -- no, I stared like a star-struck teeny-bopper at a Justin Bieber concert -- as he retrieved his overnight bag and camera case from the trunk. Where is the justice? No man, especially one in his mid-forties, has the right to look that damn good in a pair of jeans.

Death By Killer Mop Doll is available from all the usual suspects. Buy links can be found on Lois's website.
