Banana Split
Bread
Ever have a
banana split for breakfast? Combining bananas, cherries, walnuts, and chocolate
chips, this banana bread recipe takes its inspiration from the frozen treat—minus
the ice cream and whipped cream, of course. However, nothing says you can’t add
a dollop of whipped cream to a slice for breakfast or add a scoop of ice cream
and a dollop of whipped cream for a tasty dessert.😋
Ingredients:
3 very ripe
bananas
1/4 cup
chopped dried cherries
2/3-cup
melted butter
2 large
eggs, beaten
2 tsp.
vanilla extract
2 tsp.
baking soda
1/8 tsp.
salt
1 cup sugar
3 cups
all-purpose flour
1/4 cup
chocolate chips
1/4 cup
chopped walnuts
Preheat oven
to 350 degrees. Grease large loaf pan.
Mash the
bananas with a fork until completely smooth. Add chopped cherries. Stir in
melted butter. Stir in vanilla and eggs.
Sift
together dry ingredients. Mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients.
Fold in
chocolate chips and walnuts.
Pour batter
into loaf pan. Bake 50 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean.
Cool completely on wire rack before
removing from pan.

This sounds wonderful! It also meets my criteria of using common ingredients and not too many of them. Did you make several test samples before settling on this recipe?
Cathy, I started with a basic banana bread recipe I've used for years and added the chopped cherries, walnuts, and chocolate chips. Thanks for stopping by!
